IBOB, and the morning after our sleepover 8.3.2014

Such a pleasure to have witnessed our students competing with three other schools.

Before the countdown, the adrenaline rush very much created an inner fire that kept us warmed up and perspiring, in spite of the chilly night outside the senior library in the lower building.

Y8 Intellectuals; no, not all book lovers are antisocial, on the contrary, we are a thoughtful, fun loving and caring team.

Score sheet:

The enthusiasm and team spirit of our nineteen students plus four staff members kept everyone awake long after the battle.

Thanks to our 'seniors" and team leaders Christine Ra, Alice Gunn, Julius Mayer and Luke Shaw for stepping up and leading our IBOB team.  Nicola Sharp, Sophie Ng and Justin Kui for bidding for your special responsibilities to help us succeed.

More gratitude to Mrs. Catriona Woodrow and Mr. Philip Moore for being library lovers and sacrificing their Friday evening to support our students and library team.

Staying focussed and calm during the battle

Thank you to our Senior Management for your trust and facilitating our sleepover. We learnt a lot and enjoyed the opportunity to expand our skills and knowledge; to take risks and accepting the challenge to battle against British School in Ecuador, American School in Honduras and French International School in Hong Kong.

Merci beaucoup Monsieur Bryant McEntire of French International School.  Your commitment to make your "baby" work and hosting our battle from an island outside Hong Kong is much much appreciated. Our students benefited from your swift and clear guidelines. Honduras and Ecuador, keep up the good work, and as we say in Cantonese: "gar yau" meaning something like "step up and continue to give more speed", your courage to participate from afar makes us all winners.

Morning after sleepover; Mrs. Hirt, the first parent to join our special breakfast and share our happy feeling of achievement.

Author and Student Get-together November 5, 2013

Award winning author Mr. Boris Pfeiffer toured four German Schools abroad. Starting in Singapore, he then visited us in Hong Kong, followed by Shanghai and finally Beijing.

Mr. Pfeiffer was already well known by our young students from K5 to K9. Thank you Frau Ruth Soeding, Head Librarian from Singapore European School for sharing your initiative with us.

Our Principal Mrs Brandt-Dammann welcomed our visiting author Boris Pfeiffer on 5.11.2013 in the Old Gym.

In the first part of the get-together Mr. Pfeiffer read and talked about the
background of his popular series "Die Drei Fragezeichen" or The Three Question Marks" Kids series. Then he impressed us by summaries of his new series "Die Akademie der Abenteuer".
Sienna K05B

Mr. Pfeiffer, in spite of his popularity and fame, struck us as a simple and authentic individual who took his profession very seriously. Students asked where he got his ideas from for writing his stories and Mr. Pfeiffer explained that there are three ways. 1. By describing the characters from real life experience. 2. By doing research 3. By being creative and having a lot of imagination.

Mr. Pfeiffer's new book, I can disclose will be about Chinese dragons because we searched for books on dragons and he scanned pages from our collection before he left our school that morning!

Students of K5 to K8 lined up for an autograph.

Thank you
Mr. Pfeiffer for increasing our students' interest in reading. All your books in our collection have been quickly checked out and is in circulation. Well done.
